Blessing Day

We blessed Spencer on July 6, 2008. He was such a good little man for it. He started the day off by sleeping completly through the night for the first time. When we woke up I asked Carl if he had woken up with Spencer, thinking he had and someone I didn't hear it. Carl said he hadn't and asked if I had. When we realized neither of us had Carl went running into Spencer's room to make sure he was still breathing. He of course was breathing and still asleep. We were shocked that he had slept that long.

This is Spencer very tired and in his blessing outfit that my sister Melody, AKA Bubs, was kind enough to make for us out of my wedding dress.
This is a family shot in our yard on his blessing day.

Coming Home...

After being at the hospital for 36 hours we decided it was time to come home. We brought Spencer home on May 24, 2008 at 2:30 pm.

Meeting the little man...

I had decided that since 37 weeks was considered full term I really won't mind if our little man came 3 weeks early. So one night I was discussing it with Carl, after I'd given into the feeling that I knew our son wasn't coming early. I told Carl that I had decided that our baby could take all of the time that he needed to get to us and that I would even be okay if he came late, but I was just so excited to meet him and see what he looked like that I really wanted him to come ASAP. I said to Carl "Aren't you just so excited to see what he looks like and meet him". Carl's only response was "I can't wait to tickle his feet"! Hence the following pictures:

Spencer with his daddy, just after he was born and they took him to clean him up. Of course daddy is ticklin' his toes.
Spencer with me just after he was born. I was just amazed looking at him and so excited that I finally got to hold him in my arms.

Welcome to the world little one...

This is our wonderful baby boy just after he was born. He was born May 23, 2008 at 6:54 AM

One of our favorites of our little man from the day he was born, he was getting burped.

The first famiy photo, taken just after Spencer was born.

I started having contractions around midnight on the 23rd. I had been havinng them for 2 days so we weren't getting serious about going to the hospital. I would have one and then fall asleep for a little bit and then the next contraction would wake me up again.
By around 1:30 the contractions were regular enough and painful enough that I couldn't go to sleep in between. Carl decided to shower and do more of his homework since I was keeping him awake. I'd heard that baths helped ease contractions so I tried it when Carl was done. It didn't even come close to working; I had to get out to throw up a few times. I gave up on the bath easing my pain idea and just showered.
Carl told me we were going to the hospital and gave me a blessing. The blessing did convince me that this was the real thing, but I was still worried about getting to the hospital to early and having them send us home. (This happened to one of my friends, she got sent home 3 times, I figured I would rather just wait and go there late enough they wouldn't want to send me away.)
We got to the car and I was able to talk Carl into driving around a little before we went to the hospital. He told me we would drive around 15 minutes, if I had 3 contractions in that time we were going to the hospital. I had 3 contractions within 10 minutes and decided that we could go to the hospital and that I was really glad we had choosen to go to a doctor in Vernal not Roosevelt because I didn't want to drive any farther then necessary having contractions. I even tried putting my head out the window like a dog, nothing helped.
We got to the hospital at 2:30 AM They asked when I was due, Carl said "Today". She took us to the room where they check you in, after checking the nurse just said, "Wow, you're gonna have this baby, we need to get you to another room". They took us to the labor and delivery room and after a lot of hard work we were blessed with a perfect wonderful baby boy. The whole experience was truly the most amazing thing we've experienced. Our baby boy came to this world with such a strong spirit with him and we are so thankful for him.

So Precious...

He got gel in his hair for the first time today, you can't relally see his hair much in the pictures. He has lost a lot since he was born.

I was going to start the blog out in chronilogical order but I took picture of our sweet little man today that I thought were so cute and they are so accesible, so the chronilogical order isn't going to start yet.

Technologically Challenged...

I have finally decided that I need to try to catch up with technology. I have many friends and family with blogs, I love to look at their's but didn't think I would ever make one. I don't even know how to download pictures and e-mail them to people, I think I came close to having it figured out once though. So here is my attempt to start a blog and catch up with technology.
